The team
Ever wondered who is behind the Josaka website? Well here's the answer and your name could find it's way on to this page too - get in touch if you'd like to be involved.
Kevin Harrington - Founder, marketing, co-owner
Kevin started Josaka.com in 1999 building it up to around 2000 pages of content by 2008. For many years Kevin added every piece of content himself. In 2008 Josaka was upgraded and now there are multiple contributors. Kevin currently manages the Berkshire music scene directory which has listings for everything from recording studios to guitar teachers.
Jim Bowes - Label boss, webmaster, co-owner
Jim first became involved in Josaka in 2004 co-compiling the Who? compilation album and co-organising the supporting 5th birthday gig. In 2006 Kevin and Jim started Josaka Music Limited which owns the Josaka website and label. Jim currently runs the record label and website.
Jonathan Amphlett - News editor
From the Reading based band Johnny Arrow and the Cheap Day Returns, Jonathan joined Josaka in 2009. He runs the editorial on the site, he often has a beard, although frequently doesn't.
Pukka - Newsletter editor
Pukka has been contributing reviews to Josaka since 2004. She now looks after the weekly newsletter and edits news for the site.
Mike Hefferan - Berkshire Live administrator
Mike has been guitarist in a number of bands from the area and is currently in Joey Ultra.
Vacant - Opinon formers
We've been pretty thin on reviews and opinion for the last few months - we're planning to add a new opinion section, if you've got something to say about the Berkshire Music scene and want to be involved let us know.
Vacant - Listings editor
We've just added a new calendar function to our forum - what we need now is someone to make sure it's used well and if there's a must-see Berkshire gig to add it!
Vacant - Contributors
If you'd like to edit content/add to the site but don't fancy doing reviews or sharing your deepest thoughts and opinions about local bands with everyone then editing our news stories could be for you. You'll need good English (as many press releases don't have it) and some idea of how to crop an image. The rest we'll show you.
Vacant - Forum moderator
Does it really annoy you when you see a gig posted in the general forum or a classified advert in the gig section? If it does then your just the sort of person to moderate Berkshire Live - basically you send posts in the wrong section to the right place and look our for any abuse of the system.
Vacant - Feature writers
If you've got a music related subject that you know lots about then why not write an article for us - it could be a one-off or a short series. It can be as specific or general as you like.
Previous contributors
There are also lots of people that contributed previously or while we were migrating to the new version of the site. Apologies to anyone I've forgotten - remind me! Thanks to Simon Windisch, Paul C, Ruth, AK, Sam Carter, Adam Reading, Andrew Spiers, Alex Flahive, James Quentin.
All positions at Josaka are voluntary - all income is reinvested in to the website and label.
