Time for Revelry

Following on from the sold out launch night featuring Pete and the Pirates, Glasswerk's club night 'Revelry' returns to Plug n Play Reading with a series of gigs featuring hotly tipped new acts and some established touring bands.

The first, on Friday 27 February, features the much talked about queens of ‘dark garage-pop’ Ipso Facto. Formed in 2007, Ipso Facto have toured the UK with the likes of Klaxons, Siouxsie Sioux, Yeasayer, Black Kids, Friendly Fires and most recently  as special guests of The Last Shadow Puppets on their UK and European Tour in October 2008.

Local Support comes from Sixty Watt Bayonets, the four to the floor garage punk band from Reading have been tipped for big things by Larry Little (Ex-The Killer’s manager), been played on the legendary American radio station K-ROQ and made ‘Noise Makes Enemies’ list of ones to watch for 2009. Sixty Watt Bayonets will be heading into the studio in early March to finish recording their debut 7 track EP to be released by Reading label ‘Broken Tail’ in June 2009.

Also on the bill are Golden Age (ex Hope of the states). Golden Age are a London based Quintet united through a love of chamber music, reverb, tones, drones and blistering guitars. The brain child of Michael Eran Hibbert, Golden Age began in early 2007 when the dust had settled from the demise of his previous band, Hope of the States.

The second Revelry night features Reading's very own Pure Reason Revolution with a return to the live music scene that will see them undertake their most ambitious headline tour so far. Expected to be between 30-40 shows it will cover the UK, Netherlands, France, Belgium, Germany, Poland, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Scandinavia and more...

The UK tour kicks off on 5 March at Plug n Play and if you haven’t seen them live in the past, Pure Reason Revolution bring all that is good in rock ‘n’ roll, an infectious blend of contemporary dance rhythms, pop hooks, sublime vocal harmonies and ‘huge’ rock riffs to our musical taste buds.

Now signed to Superball Music their second album is due for release in early 2009 and promises to be equally provocative as the debut The Dark Third. As yet untitled it is likely to once again take a musical journey but this time of a very different kind…with influences as varied as Justice, NIN and Depeche Mode. Angry in parts, a few shades darker elsewhere but still with their signature harmonies and those big riffs!

Supporting will be Fox Cubs before they head out to SXSW, Americas biggest showcase of new music talent.

Just confirmed for the 31 March are Newport's favourite sons Goldie Lookin' Chain.

Ginger Olly will be on the decks at all events.
