Club Velocity in May
A selection of spring delights await you this month from Club V, they have 3 gigs including the return of Reading on Fire. There are headline sets from The Rushing, Hunting The Shy and Damien A Passmore not to mention some excellent supports.
Here's what Club V have to say about it all..
Gig #1 Club Velocity presents... Reading On Fire
Several years since it's last incarnation in North London Club V and Blah Blah magazine have got back together to bring back Reading On Fire...
The Rushing
Four local lads who have just turned 21, might have only been going for about 18 months, but have been very busy chaps. They have already toured USA, Dubai and South Africa. They released their debut album 'Summon The Heros' on 13 April to critical acclaim.
Bundle of Id
Four guys in their mid twenties, formed mid 2007, who create a broad ranging melodic, heavy rock sound . They develop and create a wild range of styles in a focused, exciting and consistently crowd pleasing type of music.
Smash Robots
Three sexy chaps, who know that its about time the POWER came back into POP. Smash Robots deliver this and more. Think Nerf Herder having a pillow fight with Material Issue, whilst Buck Brother look on. A band that should be playing the Sunset Strip in LA every Friday night.

Shotgun Sweetheart
Club V's favourite new local band, very young, very sassy and are less than 12 weeks old. They are very Club Velocity. Female fronted old school flavored pop punk. Calling all Runways, Go Gos and Donnas fans.

Damien A Passmore And The Lovable Fraudsters
The only true country cow punk band in town. A rare live outing by these local legends. Fronted by a failed film maker, retired pro-wrestler and a full-time geek. He grew up in a musical family and started at an early age.

Mundane Mondays
The best teenage band in Basingstoke by miles. They swagger and they make girls purr.

First Among Equals
Four piece Reading band, that play pop punk that daddy used to listen to. If you miss the likes of Mega City Four, Senseless Things and Snuff-they have a listen to this lot!

Gig #3 Club Velocity presents...
Hunting The Shy
Not only are they one of the best new Reading bands, but they really could be one of the best new bands in the UK. They have finally come out of their bedroom, where they have been recording their debut album for five months. Think all the best bits of Big Black/Leonard Cohen/Grandaddy/Codeine/Nirvana /Spaceman 3 and squeeze them all together then you are getting near to Hunting The Shy.
The Black Heart Orchestra
How earth can Basingstoke produce a band like this? This unit sound like they are from Chicago and signed to Touch and Go.

Tilehurst Childrens Arkestra
Easily the best band to come out of Tilehurst, since the mighty Pin Ups ten years ago. Another Reading band that excite us, who needs Camden? Instrumental sex, that if you dig Slint, Explosions In The Sky or Mogwai then you will adore these chaps as well.
