Punk Stars at Face Bar
Tape up your windows, Chatham Street residents – Hardskin and The Shitty Limits are going to be making some noise at the Face Bar on 11 June
Hardskin
Formed in London in the mid 90’s, Hardskin are an ‘Oi’ band from Gypsy Hill. Their debut album ‘Hard Nuts And Hard C**ts’ became an instant street punk classic amongst skinheads and punks alike; it sold several thousand copies. Their second album ‘Same Meat, Different Gravy’ was released in 2004.
Hardskin are a three-piece that features Johnny Takeaway, Fat Bob and Nipper and this is a rare gig for them, a warm up for a brief European tour. This is a one-off show from this seriously classic and very influential band.
Promoters Velocity Recordings are pretty much creaming themselves over this appearance. Label boss Sid Siddle says “for them to play in Reading is culturally and historically important as the first Stone Roses Reading show at Washington Heights, the time Manic Street Preachers caused a riot at the After Dark Club and the Beatles playing the Mecca Bingo”
The Shitty Limits
Hailing from Reading, the Limits mix punk, garage and hardcore and have been described as The Sonics fronting the Angry Samoans.
They formed in 2007 and since then have played three or four shows a week. They have already toured Canada, Spain, Germany and Holland this July they are off to America for three weeks.
Their debut album ‘Beware The Limits’ will be released by four record labels worldwide this June.
The Limits wear their influences on their sleeves, but the drag them up by the boot laces and twist them into their modern punk rock sound.
Further support from Camberley’s Dirty Rotten Scoundrels
