Over the border in Surrey, Guildford's Boilerroom plays host to Grand Valley Speedway on 26 August, with support from The Fleas and Velvet West courtesy of Blag Promotions

Grand Valley Speedway

Grand Valley Speedway formed in 1997 following the break-up of London based band Avalanche whilst on tour in the states. Guitarist/vocalist Ben and bassist Graham took the nucleus of strong pop hooks and energetic delivery, recruited an old friend Rick on drums and went on to tour the UK and France as well as recording and releasing their debut album This is Grand Valley Speedway.

They play strong, melodic pop punk tunes for people who care about real bands, not just the latest fashion scene. After 22 months of hectic touring and enough adventures to write a novel, the band had run its course and they called it a day. Now, over 10 years on, Grand Valley Speedway are reunited, refreshed and ready to rock!

The Fleas

The Fleas have a strong musical heritage. The songs themselves are incredibly accessible, with memorable melodies that will easily hook any new listener, but the subtle layers support repeated listening.

Live, their loose-limbed but tight performances are delivered with warmth and charisma, and are always well received. The Fleas have successfully won-over audiences at every type of gig, from festivals around the country, classic venues and sweaty dive-bars across London, and also on BBC radio.

Velvet West

Ex-members of Aldershot's two finest late 80's/early 90's bands West One and Blue Velvet come together as Velvet West and are reunited for one night only! Expect to hear some of their classics anthems that meant a great deal to many 'back in the day' and still do!
