J5 in SL4

Throughout the 90s and right up to their eventual split in 2007 Jurassic 5 were one of the best known names in Hip Hop. With a sunny disposition and conscious lyrics, this was music for party people, harking back to the good time sounds of the old school days of Del La Soul and A Tribe Called Quest. Their music has seen them tour the globe and their massive hits like Concrete Schoolyard and J You, have become the soundtrack to an entire generation.

The founding member of Jurassic 5, Akil The MC, will be playing a very special intimate show at The Firestation’s Basement Bar on Wednesday 23 September. It is no under estimation to say that Akil is truly a world star, leading his troop of MCs and DJs to countless chart successes and in turn becoming regarded as one the greatest live Hip Hop acts ever to perform. Following the demise of Jurassic 5, Akil The MC has been concentrating on producing the sort of Hip Hop that made him a star, culminating in his very first solo album ‘Sound Check’, he comes to The Firestation as part of a world tour promoting this album.

Akil The MC’s amazing live show combines classic Jurassic 5 material along with all new exclusive tracks that share the same old school flavour that made J5 one of the most recognisable names in Hip Hop.

Sam Hunt from The Firestation said “This is a chance to see a living legend and one of the finest MCs on the planet perform up close and personal in the Basement Bar at The Firestation. Jurassic 5 were a world-wide musical phenomenon and to be welcoming the man who put them together for a gig in Windsor is a real honour. We are still reeling from earlier in the year when Ugly Duckling took the roof off with a blistering set, if you were there then you’ll know that this is a unique gig that cannot be missed, if you weren’t then it’s your chance to make up for it and see what all the fuss is about”.
