It's a Family Affair
Josaka was disappointed to find out that The Chapman Family doesn't include Tracey, Lee or Mark. Nevertheless, they're great.
As much inspired by folk music as hardcore punk, The Chapman Family's occasionally chaotic gigs can change from euphoric to apocalyptic in an instant. Equipment is often left damaged in a heap onstage, dripping with sweat and blood from being beaten to within an inch of its life long after the final note has been struck. Rapidly picking up momentum since the turn of the year - which included being named by the NME as one of their Top Ten Tips of 2009, and playing the NME Radar tour with La Roux - the band also played the Reading & Leeds Festivals this year.
And yes, Black & White Music have managed to book them for Plug n Play on Saturday 7 November. How do these guys keep doing it eh?
Main support comes from local feisty rockers Sixty Watt Bayonets; led by the powerful vocals of Penny Bayonet with their punchy energetic garage rock. Recently receiving acclaim from the likes of Rock Sound and Kerrang, the band also appeared at this year's Leeds and Reading festivals for BBC Introducing. They have just gone into the studio to record their new single which you will be able to hear on this night - so don't miss it.
Kicking off the night are the excellent Jets Against Giants, who have promised, harder and faster stuff for this night. They also claim they find promoting themselves "a bit embarrassing", looks like I'll have to do it for them here. They're good.
What a night. Go!
