Revere at PnP

Posted: Wed, 11 Nov 2009

Glasswerk’s Revelry nights are continuing their tradition of putting on great up and coming bands at Plug n Play on Friday 13 November, but quite how they’re going to fit them all on the stage this weekend is something else

Revere incorporate violin, cello, keys, trumpet and harp into a guitar-led sound, touching on numerous musical reference points, combining elements of gypsy marches, klezmer, post rock, film scores and gospel resulting in a truly unique sound. Described as "beautifully unpredictable” by MOJO Magazine, their tunes are already being backed by the major players on national radio, like Tom Robinson from BBC6.

Support comes from A Genuine Freakshow, Auto De Fe and Aubrey Dye.

A Genuine Freakshow are a 7-piece pop-infused post-rock cannonade with mass appeal. Songs born of their broad range of influences from Elbow and Radiohead to Mogwai and Explosions In The Sky are accompanied by lush orchestral arrangements and the sincere falsetto vocals of Timothy Sutcliffe. They have spent the summer of 2009 recording their debut album Oftentimes and the band are promoting the new album pre-order with UK dates throughout the end of 2009.

Joining the lineup are Auto De Fe who make thoughtful, impassioned and often frantic progressive rock.  Formed a year ago after the disbanding of Hampshire based heavy rock act Sub Rosa, Auto De Fe have recently completed their debut EP 'Appomattox'. Combining moments of glacial atmospherics with pounding tribal rhythms, head-scratching grooves and melodic vocals they are a willfully difficult band to pin down, although comparisons have been made to the likes of Tool, The Mars Volta and Radiohead

Completing the line-up is the wonderful Aubrey Dye with her acoustic guitar and her wonderful songs. If you are a fan of Patti Griffin, you will definitely love Aubrey Dye’s music.
