Josaka 11th birthday
It's time to celebrate Josaka's 11th birthday with our annual gig - once again the line-up promises some great bands...
This year The Circus Sands headline as part of their first UK tour, the band have had an impressive 12 months gaining critical acclaim and new fans everywhere they’ve played. Over the last couple of months the band have been locked away working on their second EP they’re now hitting the road for the first time as a four piece. They promise to bring some scuzz-filled rock and roll to the Josaka birthday.
Main support comes from special guests White Sunday, a rare hometown show for a band that sold out the Josaka birthday when they headlined two years ago and a late extra addition to this year’s line-up. Expect old favourites and new material from the band.
Darlings of 8-bit and XFM favourites MidiMidis perform ahead of releasing a single with Josaka on 5th April. The band, who are having a remarkable year have just recorded a live session at the BBC Maida Vale studios. The band’s press and critic support is growing and with an EP and European tour planned for May they’re one of 2010’s bands to watch.
Openers are newcomers with provenance Quiet Quiet Band who feature former members of The Heartwear Process. Their folk-tinged tunes promise to provide the perfect opening to a great evening’s entertainment.
This stellar line-up will be joined by DJs 2 Many Skinheads at the decks and Jim Bowes on compere duties.
Local pro-lighting company Martin’s Lights will be dazzling the audience with the kind of light show that is normally reserved for chart-topping touring bands.
