John Cooper Clarke Live At SUB89
One of the original punks, John Cooper Clarke, who has been called "The Bard of Salford" and "The Punk Poet", will be performing in Reading with his satirical and political verse delivered in a rapid-fire performance style.
By 1976 and the arrival of punk, he was initially the support act for many seminal punk bands such as The Sex Pistols, Buzzcocks, The Fall, Joy Division, Elvis Costello, and Siouxsie and The Banshees. John started to headline his own gigs, recording four studio albums and releasing two live LPs. Since the punk days, John has been recognised as one of England's most impirtant poets and performers. National Concert Promoter for SUB89, Mike Jones, comments...
"John Cooper Clarke is arguably one of one of the most important figures of the British Punk movement, and his verses are just as relevant today as they were 25 years ago. We are privileged to host the Punk Poet in SUB89, and we know that Berkshire will give him the welcome he deserves".
