Dreadzone at Sub89

Dub pioneers Dreadzone + Engine Earz Experiment come to Reading music venue, Sub89...

Dreadzone are leaders in their field, with their infectious cacophony of electronica, ska and reggae getting crowds dancing for close to 20 years. Out to promote their soon to be released ‘Best Of’ album, all the back catalogue favourites are likely to be in the mix in the upcoming tour. This band are showing no signs of slowing down.....if anything they are cranking it up even more.

With a number of the members having been part of The Clash’s Mick Jones Big Audio Dynamite project in the late 80's, it was clear that the dub based sound was becoming increasingly popular with that success.

The band under its current guise made its debut on the scene under the wing of renowned label owner Alan Mcgee’s Creation Records in the mid 90's. Since their inception, Dreadzone have released 5 critically acclaimed albums, including the seminal 1995 release ‘Second Light’, which John Peel later named in his top 10 favourite albums of all time.

Favourites on the UK festival circuit, and with their hugely loyal fan base, seeing this band live in Reading is not going to be one you can afford to miss.

Engine-EarZ Experiment are a musical collective born out of the Dubstep scene in early 2009 centering around acclaimed multi-instrumentalist/scorer/dj/producer Prashant Mistry. Growing up in Britain with Asian roots, Prash had always sought to reconcile his varied musical influences from The Prodigy and Rage Against The Machine through to Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and Talvin Singh.

Indeed, working towards Engine-EarZ's debut album the focus is to smash glass divides between genres and ideologies; fusing indigenous musics from around the world with elements of dubstep, drum'n'bass, electronica and rock. .... Engine-EarZ Experiment release their debut limited edition release, an instrumental double bill on vinyl & download; 'Kaliyuga' backed up by 'Introspector'.

Through remixing artists from Sean Paul through to Basement Jaxx, the collective has already drawn attention across the entire BBC Radio network, with plays from the likes of Zane Lowe, Huw Stephens, Ras Kwame, Mary-Anne Hobbs, Nerm & D-Code, Tom Robinson, Friction, Nihal with a second BBC Maida Vale session having just taken place in December with Mista Jam for 1XTRA. .... Engine Earz Experiment have started to make a name for themselves both as djs and a live set included playing alongside a list that boasts Caspa, Rusko, Shy FX, Skream, Benga as well as headlining spots at the BBC Introducing Stage at Glastonbury 2009 and the London Mela..

So with growing support from fans and critics alike, some big remixes and festivals in the pipeline, and an album to promote, it looks like things are only getting started for the Engine-EarZ Experiment!
